Will BBC Hit ‘Bodyguard’ Have a Season 2?

If like us you are twiddling your thumbs lost in a limbo of absolute nothingness after the climatic finale of the smash hit BBC series ‘Bodyguard’ last week then you’ll understand our need for more from the political and high-octane drama.

Well, it looks like our prayers (and tweets) have finally been answered.

Fans have been engrossed for weeks with the assassination of Home Secretary Julia Montague and her relationship with her troubled bodyguard and Specialist Protection Officer David Budd, with many taking to social media in hordes asking the question, when will we get our next dose of the Bodyguard?

In response to our dire situation, Bodyguard creator Jed Mercurio has revealed that he is plotting four spin-offs from the explosive drama after the season finale last week.

A second series was more than enough for us, so to hear that there could potentially be getting a whooping four spin off’s is enough to quench our desire.

The show has been an unbelievable ratings success for the BBC with the dramatic drama pulling in a record 10 million viewers an episode, with each episode revealing more twists and likely suspects for killing the Home Secretary and leaving the nation absolute gripped in suspense.

But the big question that is on everyone’s mind is (well, ours anyway) is will Richard Madden, who played the highly controversial bodyguard return for the alleged spin-offs?

Well according to the show creator, we could be seeing more of David Budd, possibly with a new client next time around too.

‘He’s the genuine article, a real leading man. And I think this role has put him very much in the spotlight for bigger things,’ Mercurio explained.

‘So, the practicality may be that we have to work round his availability, if we are lucky enough to get him back.’

So, there you have, the possibility is always there, through by the sounds of it we may be waiting a while to get our much needed Bodyguard fix.

So, in the event the Bodyguard does not return to our screen, we guess we could always become a bodyguard ourselves by going on our SIA compliant Level 3 BTEC Close Protection Operations course.

Who says we can’t start a little drama of our own, eh!?
