Anyone who needs to authorise alcohol sales requires a Personal Licence.
The more likely person within the team to hold a personal licence is the bar or club manager. With an average salary between £18,587 – £44,544.
They will act as the personal licence holder and can act as the designated premises supervisor for any business that sells or supplies alcohol.
But even if you do not hold a personal licence yourself personally, you will still greatly benefit from the licence holder having a personal licence.
Legally, you are not allowed to sell alcohol unless the personal licence holder is in the premises. This basically means that without the personal licence holder you won’t have a job. Which isn’t great for the team of bar staff who work behind the bar.
A bartender can earn an average wage of £7.15 per hour averaging to a total of £20,170 per year. A more senior member can look set to double that figure with £9.15, but of course this depends on the venue and the employer.
But it isn’t just the initial bar staff that the personal licence effects. Without a personal licence holder, there would be no need for a security team.

That would equal to £17,212 per year.
A licenced Door Supervisor on the other hand can earn on average £26,112 per year, a figure that has also increased by £4,143 since 2013.
As of 1 April 2015, there is no requirement to renew personal licences. As a result, the expiry date on any issued licence is no longer relevant. This is a great advantage as there is no need to pay for additional retraining or renewal of a licence.
As a result, this is a one payment solution that will benefit you financially in the long term and requires no further financial investment.
Remember, a personal licence is needed by anyone intending to supervise the sale of alcohol in any premises, including pubs, off licences, restaurants and hotels but not including private members clubs.
Without a personal licence there is no business. And without a working business, staff do not get paid.
