So, you’ve paid for your security training, completed the assessments and are now the proud owner of a fully-fledged SIA security licence.
But a common question amongst newly positioned staff within in the security sector is, can my SIA security licence ever be revoked?
The answer to that question is, yes.
There are a number of different scenarios that could put your SIA license in breach of revocation, and in doing so could potentially result in your licence being revoked.
Your licence will be revoked if:
- if your SIA security licence has been obtained using fraudulent documents or a fraudulent identity. This also includes if the licence in question has been used by someone other than you.
- If you do not have the training qualifications that you claimed to have on your application.
- If you receive a conviction, caution, warning or any other kind of criminal offence during the holding of your SIA security licence.
- If you have been working with a SIA security licence without the right to work or SIA have been informed by the relevant authorities that you do not have the right to work or are in the United Kingdom illegally.
If any of these breaches are found then the SIA will write to inform you on their findings and decisions. This letter will set out the basis for the assessment by the SIA, and invite you to supply further information. You will then have 21 days to respond to this letter if you disagree with the findings and decisions.
Having your SIA security licence revoked is ultimately a serious offensive and not only puts you out of work but also damages your reputation.
Remember, always be honest and forthcoming with any information that is requested from you during the initial application and provide all required documentation.
Without an SIA security licence, you are unable to work in the security industry and this could be the difference of you working in the security sector to never being able to step foot in the industry again.
