Security Guards in demand as lockdown eases

As lockdown eases, there is a surplus of demand for Security Guards in the UK. As mentioned in The Financial Times the number of job postings for security guards has risen.

The UK was the first country to start vaccinating, and to date, the rollout of the vaccine across the majority of the population has been incredibly successful.

Shortage of Door Supervisors in the UK

However, the BBC released an article stating that venues such as bars and nightclubs may struggle to open as planned due to the lack of door supervisors available. 

As it’s been over a year since nightclubs have been closed, some security professionals have moved into other work, or non-UK nationals have returned to their home countries following the pandemic and Brexit. 

The UK Door Security Association (UKDSA) have stated that more than half of the positions have not been filled, meaning there is currently a huge demand for door supervisors. 

As things go back to normal venues are desperate to open, and the need for SIA Licence holders has increased.

How to become a Night Club Doorman?

To become a nightclub doorman, you must have a value SIA Door Supervisor licence before you can start working in the security industry. This can be obtained by completing the Door Supervisor course and then applying for your licence on the SIA website.
