CCTV technicians often form long-term relationships with their customers. That’s because a CCTV service doesn’t stop with simply installing a system. Repairs, maintenance and upgrades offer many opportunities for CCTV technicians to revisit their old customers repeatedly.
So how can you ideally create a working environment where service and customer retention become the backbone of your business? Here are five suggestions:
1. Offer an annual maintenance plan
Once an installation takes place at one of your clients, offer them an affordable (or free) yearly maintenance plan that will encourage them to come back to you every time. This will help you retain your customers and lose a lot less of them to competitors. You may think that it’s bad business to offer the plan for free, but remember that a lot of repair and upgrade business can come from this kind of initiative. Besides, ultimately it’s about staying connected with the customers, isn’t it?
2. Offer a mobile payment method
Mobile credit card machines make payment really easy for your customers. Once you and your team of technicians have completed an installation, upgrade or repair; payment can be sorted on the spot. Customers will begin to use you over other companies because of this convenience. In fact it’s becoming one of the fastest ways to grow service-based businesses.
3. Get customers to rate your service
Feedback is priceless in any industry. Why not set up a system where you can derive feedback from your customers? This can be done via a social media business page, directly from your website, or even through service cards that can be dropped off at customers during every visit. Get feedback from your customers and see what they want as well as where you can improve.
4. Suggest upgrades to your customers
Up-selling has two advantages in the CCTV industry. First of all, it gives you more business; and second of all, it gives you an opportunity to converse with your customers. Connect with them by showing them how useful it would be to upgrade their current CCTV system. They’ll appreciate your offer and recommend you to their neighbours. Friendly service can take you a long way in this industry!
5. Create a social media community
Whether you decide on Facebook, LinkedIn, or one of the many other social media platforms out there; creating a social community related to your CCTV business is essential. This takes very little time out of your day. Simply create a business page for your company, share your blogs, photos, or something simple like little nuggets of industry wisdom. Generate an audience and you’ll have tons of loyal customers using your services on a regular basis.
